‘Captain America: Civil War’ Updates: Sebastian Stan, Elizabeth Olsen reprise roles

With “Captain America: Civil War” approaching notably fast, different opinions are coming to pace. Even though there’s a high possibility that the movie will not follow the Civil War story in the comics, some fans believe that it will somehow be spectacular but others are mostly worried.

So far, the Marvel Cinematic Universe defies too much demise of the great superheroes. It will somehow be a great news to some because this may mean that fans will be able to see more characters in the film. But, it looked like it caused more fans to be concerned.

It was confirmed that Sebastian Stan will reprise his role as Bucky Burnes also known as “The Winter Soldier”. In an interview with Collider, he revealed that the audiences will get to see him more on screen this time. With that, it appeared like he has more dialogues in Civil War. He also addressed the worries of the audiences that the movie will have too many characters.

“I mean, I know everybody’s treating it like there are all these Avengers in it, like it’s Avengers 2.5 or something, and there’s an element of that, but it’s still at the end of the day very much a Captain America film,” he said.

Why Elizabeth Olsen Really Doesn’t Want A Scarlet Witch Movie

CINEMABLEND – Like her fellow Avengers Black Widow and Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch didn’t get a solo movie to set her up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Instead, she and her brother Quicksilver were among the many characters introduced earlier this year in Avengers: Age of Ultron. While her brother didn’t survive the events of Ultron’s evil scheme, Scarlet Witch, a.k.a. Wanda Maximoff, has a bright future ahead of her in the MCU. However, there aren’t any official plans to give Scarlet Witch a solo adventure, and actress Elizabeth Olsen seems to be fine with that.

This past weekend at the Toronto International Film Festival, Olsen was asked by Business Insider whether she’d ever want to lead a standalone Scarlet Witch film. The actress stated that while she loves the character, she doesn’t know if Scarlet Witch needs to go off on her own. Olsen said, “I’m not sure, honestly. I love my character, I just don’t know how that would fit in the whole Marvel universe or if it would even be necessary.”

Let’s put one of her concerns to rest: if Marvel wanted to find a way to fit a Scarlet Witch adventure into their film slate, they would do it. The studio has already plotted out their films to 2019 (and those are only the ones they’ve announced to the public), but there’s no reason they couldn’t give her a film during Phase Four. With abilities like telekinesis and hypnosis, she’s already one of the most powerful people in the MCU, – at least on Earth. A solo film might also be a chance for her relationship with The Vision to be explored, having married him previously in the comics. At the very least, a Scarlet Witch movie would give Marvel a chance to highlight another woman in the MCU on the big screen outside of an ensemble. Currently the only female-led solo movie they have on the docket is Captain Marvel in late 2018.

Elizabeth Olsen explains why singing badly on purpose for her new movie was ‘freeing’

In “I Saw the Light,” which premiered Friday night at the Toronto International Film Festival, Elizabeth Olsen plays Audrey Mae Williams, the first wife of legendary country singer-songwriter Hank Williams.

Olsen’s powerful performance portrays Audrey as someone who is strong-centered, but at a certain point, becomes fed-up with her famous husband’s cheating and hard drinking. She ends up divorcing him. Williams (played by Tom Hiddleston) would die tragically at the age of 29.

But, like Hiddleston, who really sings the Williams songs in the movie, Olsen gets to show off her vocal skills, too — but in a different fashion.

Audrey aspires to be a country singer and performs duets with Williams at the gin joints Williams plays at during the early stages of his career.

When Audrey gets increasingly serious about her career and wants to sing with Williams at his radio gigs, things don’t go so well. While belting out the songs in a high-pitched wail, even Williams can’t defend his wife when she’s finally told she can’t continue to perform alongside her husband.

Olsen said singing badly on purpose was a lot of fun.

“It was very freeing,” she told Business Insider. “[Tom] is trying to sound like someone so iconic, I’m trying to sound like someone who it’s even hard to find sound clippings of.”

Though Olsen managed to track down some recordings of Audrey singing, she was able to take liberties in how Audrey would sound.

The bigger challenge was making sure not to make Audrey sound too awful.

“In the movie when she sings in the household and in front of people you can enjoy listening to her, so we had to make sure a general person would think she’s okay,” Olsen told BI. “But when she starts singing for people that work in the industry and who have a musical ear, it had to be like, ‘She’s never going to be successful.’ So that was the balance.”

Olsen is no stranger to singing on screen. She did it in “Very Good Girls,” an indie film in which she co-starred with Dakota Fanning, that was released last year.

But singing badly on purpose in “I Saw the Light” was more fun.

“There’s so much humor in it,” she said. “You need that in a film with a lot of sadness.”

“I Saw the Light” opens in theaters November 27.

Toronto Film Festival: Elizabeth for W Magazine

Elizabeth Olsen, actress (“I Saw the Light”)
On playing Hank Williams’s wife, Audrey Mae: “Nobody has very nice things to say about her. She was untalented and wanted to be a star, so there were a lot of reasons to have an issue with her personality. But at the same time, she was dealing with an alcoholic husband who was never home, so you end up having compassion and empathy for her. I just tried to be her lawyer—to, you know, defend her.”
