NYFW: Did Elizabeth Olsen’s Ponytail Inspire The Runway Hair At SUNO?

Velvet-wrapped ponytails popped up on the models at Suno’s fall 2016 show.

THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER – Much like the topknot and the hun (half-up bun), it appears the velvet-wrapped ponytail could be the latest hashtag-able hairdo. While Vogue.com declared “Suno Just Solved Your Date-Night Hair Situation: Meet the Velvet-Wrapped Ponytail,” the look isn’t entirely new.

French hairstylist Odile Gilbert created the look using Kerastase products for models walking the runway at Suno’s fall 2016 show — and she also created velvet-wrapped chignons for the models three years ago at Monique Lhuillier’s fall 2013 show. But, the velveteen pony that had fashionistas in a frenzy at Suno was previously seen at a shoot last November for The Hollywood Reporter’s Beauty Issue.

It was the genius of red-carpet hairstylist Mark Townsend, whose clients include Rachel McAdams and Dakota Johnson. Townsend had originally created a silk-velvet wrapped low ponytail for client Elizabeth Olsen to wear to the I Saw the Light premiere in Nashville: “Lizzy texted me and said I am thinking about a ribbon in the hair, so when she said she wanted a ribbon, I brought about 20 options — leather, suede, velvet — different widths.

Fuller House Boss Reveals Truth About Trying to Cast Elizabeth Olsen

E! ONLINE – Could Elizabeth Olsen really have stepped in as Michelle Tanner for Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen on Fuller House?

Sorta. That’s the answer creator Jeff Franklin just gave E! News today, confirming that he did consider casting Elizabeth when Mary-Kate and Ashley declined appearing.

“Personally, I was very disappointed that Mary-Kate or Ashley didn’t want to come and join us,” Franklin exclusively tells E! News. “I understand why and no hard feelings, but I really was hoping to get that picture. And in our moment of disappointment, John Stamos and I talked about what to do and we thought for a moment, what if? We’ve known Elizabeth since she was a little girl.”

So Franklin made a call to Elizabeth’s agent, however, he clarifies: “It was not an offer, it was just an inquiry floating out whether there was even a point to this idea. I didn’t know if it was a good idea or a bad idea. And I thought it through, and it was in my head, so I thought I would just see if it was even worth thinking about. It was not really a good idea. It wasn’t.”

Elizabeth Olsen Was Approached to Play Michelle Tanner on Fuller House

VANITY FAIR – If you’re anything like us, it still, to this day, takes you a few moments, every time, to connect that Elizabeth Olsen is the sister of world’s most famous twins, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. They exist in quite different pop-cultural spheres, as Mary-Kate and Ashley have been fixtures since they were toddlers (first as child actors, now as fashion empresses), while Elizabeth “hit the scene,” as it were, only a few years ago, and in quite different fashion, becoming something of an indie darling after her debut in Martha Marcy May Marlene.

Mary-Kate and Ashley—save for a cigarette-bowl-strewn wedding here and there—stay pretty much out of the public eye these days, and the two turned down roles in Fuller House, the forthcoming Netflix reboot of Full House, as grown-up Michelle Tanner. It is hard to imagine either Olsen twin getting back in the patterned overalls for the new go-round (Mary-Kate, to Ashley, on the phone: “So [18-second pause] that Full House reboot [low guttural moan] [fit of giggles] [high-pitched wail] . . . anyway, can I borrow your black cloak?”), so it’s not all that surprising that they decided not to return.

Their decision initially led the remaining cast, we have now learned, to get inventive. John Stamos (a.k.a. Uncle Jesse) revealed on Andy Cohen’s Sirius show Monday that there was an actual attempt made to see if . . . Elizabeth might be interested in taking on the role. “I don’t think this has been talked about,” he said. “I didn’t do it, I think Jeff Franklin did. I said, ‘Call the sister [Elizabeth Olsen]. Ask her’ . . . We talked to her agent and her agent was like, ‘Come on, she’s not going to do that,’ but we did call her agent.” We like to think Elizabeth texted Mary-Kate and Ashley immediately afterward, and one twin wrote back, “Who is Michelle Tanner?,” and the other sent a string of nonsensical animal emojis.

Jeremy Renner & Elizabeth Olsen To Star In ‘Wind River’

DEADLINE – EXCLUSIVE: Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen have been set to star in Wind River, a drama written by Sicario scribe Taylor Sheridan, who also is on board to make his feature directorial debut. Sicario producer Basil Iwanyk’s Thunder Road is producing this one with Peter Berg and Matthew George.

Sicario screenwriter Taylor SheridanThe pic, which begins shooting in March in Park City, centers on Cory (Renner), who works for the Fish and Game Department as a hunter of coyotes and other predators. Suffering after the death of his teenage daughter, he stumbles upon the raped body of a teenage girl frozen in the desolate wilderness. A rookie FBI agent (Olsen) who is unfamiliar with the terrain and weather enlists Cory to help her find those responsible.

The film is being produced by Iwanyk’s Thunder Road, Berg’s Film 44, George’s Savvy Media Holdings and Acacia Filmed Entertainment Llc., the latter a joint venture partner with the Tunicia-Biloxi Indian tribe. Elizabeth Bell, Star Thrower Entertainment are executive producing along with Riverstone Pictures, which is co-financing with Acacia.

Voltage Pictures is repping foreign sales at EFM in Berlin next month. CAA is handling domestic sales.

Renner, a two-time Oscar nominee, has been plenty busy keeping up with the Avengers and Mission: Impossible franchises. He also is executive producing with an eye to recur in Knightfall, a historical drama that was just given a straight-to-series order for a 2016 bow on History. He is repped by CAA, Untitled Entertainment and Patti Felker.

Olsen, also in the Avengers fold, is next up playing Hank Williams’ wife Audrey Mae in the Sony Pictures Classic biopic I Saw The Light, which has a March 25 release date. She is repped by Gersh and Brillstein Entertainment.

Sicario, a Thunder Road production, picked up three Oscar noms Thursday: for Cinematography (Roger Deakins), Original Score (Jóhann Jóhannsson) and Sound Editing (Alan Robert Murray). The drug-war drama starring Emily Blunt and Benicio Del Toro and directed by Denis Villeneuve has made $80.6M worldwide since its September release via Lionsgate.

The Wind River deal was negotiated by Neil Meyer repping Sheridan, Elizabeth Bell for Acacia, Jonathan Fuhrman on behalf of Thunder Road and David Matlof for Film 44.
