Aubrey Plaza, Elizabeth Olsen to Star in ‘Ingrid Goes West’

THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTERMatt Spicer is directing the dark comedy about a young woman who becomes obsessed with a social media star.

Aubrey Plaza and Elizabeth Olsen will star in dark comedy Ingrid Goes West.

Directed by Matt Spicer from a script by Spicer and David Branson Smith, the film follows a young woman named Ingrid (Plaza) who becomes obsessed with a social media star named Taylor Sloane (Olsen) with a seemingly perfect life. When Ingrid decides to drop everything and move west to befriend Taylor, her behavior turns unsettling and increasingly dangerous.

Plaza will produce the pic along with Jared Ian Goldman, Star Thrower Entertainment’s Tim and Trevor White and Adam and Robert Mirels through their newly formed 141 Entertainment banner. Mary Solomon, Rick Rickertsen and Allan Mandelbaum will executive produce.

The film, which is Spicer’s feature directorial debut, is currently shooting in Los Angeles.

Plaza, known for playing April Ludgate on NBC’s Parks and Recreation, was most recently seen in Fox’s comedy Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates. She next will star in Noah Hawley’s FX series Legion, and she recently wrapped production on The Little Hours in which she stars alongside Alison Brie and Dave Franco. Plaza is repped by CAA, MGMT Entertainment and Schreck Rose.

Olsen was most recently seen in Disney and Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War and starred opposite Tom Hiddleston in I Saw the Light. Ingrid Goes West is her second collaboration with Star Thrower Entertainment following Taylor Sheridan’s Wind River, which The Weinstein Company will release. She is repped by Gersh and Brillstein Entertainment Partners.

Spicer recently co-wrote the coming-of-age comedy Flower along with Max Winkler, who will also direct. Also along with Winkler, Spicer will write the recently announced Rocketeer sequel for Disney. He is repped by CAA, Management 360 and Karl Austen.
