Aubrey Plaza Will Stalk Elizabeth Olsen In A Social Media-Themed Dark Comedy

NERDIST – Fans of social media and dark comedies can rejoice. The Hollywood Reporter has announced that Parks and Recreation alum Aubrey Plaza and the Marvel Cinematic Universe‘s own Elizabeth Olsen will play opposite each other in Ingrid Goes West, a new ‘net-themed dark comedy shooting in Los Angeles.

Details on the production are still pretty light, but we do know a basic storyline. Plaza will play Ingrid, a young woman on the verge of obsession with a social media starlet played by Olsen. Ingrid’s obsession reaches a whole new level when she packs up her life and moves to Los Angeles to befriend Olsen’s Taylor Sloane, the young woman with a seemingly perfect life. As with all dark comedies, Ingrid’s arrival on the West Coast sparks a series of events that lead the young women down increasingly disturbing and dangerous paths.

Plaza will produce the film, which was written by Matt Spicer and David Branson Smith. Spicer will make the project his feature film directorial debut.

The movie does not yet have a release date, but the timing of a story steeped in social media stardom could not come at a more opportune moment, as stars of YouTube, Twitch, Twitter, and more occupy an increasingly high profile in the public eye. They influence national and international conversations, and drive millions of eyes towards the products and events they love. Could any moment be more primed for a stark and comedic look at what happens when fan obsession goes too far?

Olsen and Plaza have proven track records of excellent comedic timing and solid acting chops so this movie-goer eagerly awaits more details and a release date to look forward to in the coming months.

Elizabeth Olsen Would Do A Scarlet Witch Movie On One Condition

HUFFINGTON POST – Scarlet Witch has so much power, it’d make Voldemort pee his pants. But with great power comes great responsibility, and actress Elizabeth Olsen takes that responsibility very seriously.

When The Huffington Post asked the “Captain America: Civil War“ star if she’d be into doing a Scarlet Witch/Wanda Maximoff solo movie, the actress said she’d entertain the idea on one condition.

“It’s not something I’m opposed to, but it’s also something that has to make a lot of sense. I wouldn’t just do it just to do it. It’d have to make sense for how it advances in the world. But I’d be open to talking about it. I’d never say no to just an idea,” said Olsen.

A Scarlet Witch movie would be a welcome addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which has been almost completely male-driven up to this point (even down to the toys). Perhaps giving hope to a solo movie, at the end of “Civil War,” Scarlet Witch’s future is fairly up in the air. Olsen said, “The options for Wanda afterward are pretty limitless,” but we may have a slight hint about what’s ahead.

In “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” Tony Stark has a vision showing his fellow Avengers dead. This vision is given to him while Scarlet Witch is messing with his head. We asked “Avengers: Infinity War“ directors the Russo brothers if the vision could still come into play again, and they confirmed that everything was still on the table.

Is Stark’s vision a glimpse at the future? Will Scarlet Witch possibly be asked to recreate it?

Civil War Director Joe Russo Teases A Fully Powered ‘Scarlet Witch’ For Avengers: Infinity War

139775COMIC BOOK MOVIE – While confirming Elizabeth Olsen’s return as Wanda Maximoff for Avengers: Infinity War, the co-director of Civil War has also hinted that the character will have reached her full potential by then.

Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch is one of the many Avengers that’s set to return for Captain America: Civil War, though she seems to have been given a slight power-downgrade since we last saw her in Age Of Ultron. While the origins of her mysterious abilities are mentioned, we still don’t learn exactly how powerful she’s capable of becoming – but it seems we might find out in Avengers: Infinity War.

During a press conference with Clevver Movies, Civil War co-director Joe Russo addressed Wanda’s power set, and explains how an early “mistake” causes her to hold back a bit over the course of the film. But, come Infinity War it sounds like we may get that all-powerful Scarlet Witch fans have been waiting to see.

“She is on a growth arc, and it is part of her development. It is very tricky with powerful characters, because unless they have an internal struggle or a flaw that limits them then they do become limitless, and the storytelling becomes muddled and not very interesting.

You know she could’ve stopped that fight at the airport in 5 seconds if she were at the peak of her powers, so it really has to do her character specifically going on a journey to understand what the limits of her powers are. She makes a mistake very early in the movie that sets her back, and we’ll get to see where she goes in Infinity War.”

If Wanda becomes even half as powerful as she’s been depicted in the comics at times, Thanos had better watch out! Avengers: Infinity War – Part 1 will hit theaters on May 4th, 2018.

Kids’ Choice Awards Introduces An Extended ‘Captain America: Civil War’ Trailer

Science Fiction com – Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. were on hand at the Nickelodeon ‘Kids’ Choice Awards’ to present an extended version of the ‘Captain America: Civil War’ trailer. While it is largely identical to the clip that debuted last week, introducing Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, this longer version offers fans a better look at some of the supporting cast, including Frank Grillo as baddie Crossbones, Emily VanCamp in action as Agent 13, longer shots of Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) and The Falcon (Anthony Mackie) and a face-off between the Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and The Vision (Paul Bettany).

Joe and Anthony Russo really upped the ante with their political thriller ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’, one of the most acclaimed– and highest grossing– of the Marvel Studios films. The pair are on board to direct ‘Avengers: Infinity War – Part One’, but ‘Civil War’ should give fans a look at how the pair handle a gaggle of superheroes all sharing the screen.
