Press: Elizabeth Olsen does double duty in ‘Wind River’ and ‘Ingrid Goes West’

LA TIMES – Room 64 at the Chateau Marmont is possibly the most Instagrammable spot in L.A. Its wrap-around terrace is suspended just below the homes built into the Hollywood Hills, tiny glass boxes that form their own constellation when night falls. Rumor has it Howard Hughes once lived in this two-bedroom penthouse, spying on girls at the pool below, decades before Lindsay Lohan and Lady Gaga crashed here for a slumber party.

Today, however, it is home to the actress Elizabeth Olsen, who has arrived at the hotel with a team of people to help beautify her. High-heeled sandals are lined up on a desk. There are multiple pieces of luggage containing makeup kits. She is wearing borrowed diamonds on her fingers, paging through the room service menu, from which she can order whatever she would like.

It’s a scene, no doubt, that would incite lust among her half-a-million Instagram followers. But she doesn’t feel like she knows how to do the setting justice. Just this morning, she attempted to photograph her breakfast, but then ended up deleting the image in haste.

“I’m bad at it,” she says. “I’m bad at the lighting. I’m bad at the framing. I’m bad at the editing. When I look at my food, it looks pretty. When I look at it on a phone, it looks not pretty.”

Press: ‘Wind River’ Interview at Cannes

DEADLINE – This is the third year in a row that Taylor Sheridan has a film in Official Selection at the Cannes Film Festival. But the Sicario and Hell Or High Water writer is making his Croisette debut as director with Wind River. An unfinished version of the timely thriller centered around the continued injustice toward Native Americans premiered at Sundance in January. Its final cut premiered in Un Certain Regard here to a lengthy standing ovation.

The story follows a game tracker (Jeremy Renner) and an FBI agent (Elizabeth Olsen) who go on a manhunt for the murderer of a Native American teenage girl on Wyoming’s Wind River Indian Reservation.

Deadline’s Pete Hammond has said the movie “features the best Jeremy Renner performance in years.” And, in the video above, Renner says this is a meaningful film for him. “I’m deeply connected to it… and you know, I don’t have to talk about just a bow and arrow,” he laughs, referencing his Hawkeye role in the Avengers movies. He adds, seriously, “I can talk about something that does mean something to me as a man, as a father, as an actor, a lot of things.”

Elizabeth Olsen Admits She ‘Has a Hard Time With the Pressure to Look Cool’

ELLE – “They can make me have a little vertigo when I have to go on stage, so I just finally decided to take them off instead of trying.”

Elizabeth Olsen is explaining why she kicked off her heels at the Cannes premiere of her latest movie Wind River. Sitting with her on a secluded patio tucked away behind La Croisette–the main oceanfront drag of Cannes–Olsen looks as fresh as a daisy in an elegant printed pantsuit, although she must be exhausted. The movie premiere the night before didn’t even start until 11pm, which is when we saw Olsen take the stage clutching those heels in her hand. By 2am she was still working–meeting and greeting at the movie after-party, even though another super-early start beckoned, followed by another full day of non-stop interviews and events. (She took her shoes off eventually after that appearance, too.)

Jeremy Renner & Elizabeth Olsen To Star In ‘Wind River’

DEADLINE – EXCLUSIVE: Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen have been set to star in Wind River, a drama written by Sicario scribe Taylor Sheridan, who also is on board to make his feature directorial debut. Sicario producer Basil Iwanyk’s Thunder Road is producing this one with Peter Berg and Matthew George.

Sicario screenwriter Taylor SheridanThe pic, which begins shooting in March in Park City, centers on Cory (Renner), who works for the Fish and Game Department as a hunter of coyotes and other predators. Suffering after the death of his teenage daughter, he stumbles upon the raped body of a teenage girl frozen in the desolate wilderness. A rookie FBI agent (Olsen) who is unfamiliar with the terrain and weather enlists Cory to help her find those responsible.

The film is being produced by Iwanyk’s Thunder Road, Berg’s Film 44, George’s Savvy Media Holdings and Acacia Filmed Entertainment Llc., the latter a joint venture partner with the Tunicia-Biloxi Indian tribe. Elizabeth Bell, Star Thrower Entertainment are executive producing along with Riverstone Pictures, which is co-financing with Acacia.

Voltage Pictures is repping foreign sales at EFM in Berlin next month. CAA is handling domestic sales.

Renner, a two-time Oscar nominee, has been plenty busy keeping up with the Avengers and Mission: Impossible franchises. He also is executive producing with an eye to recur in Knightfall, a historical drama that was just given a straight-to-series order for a 2016 bow on History. He is repped by CAA, Untitled Entertainment and Patti Felker.

Olsen, also in the Avengers fold, is next up playing Hank Williams’ wife Audrey Mae in the Sony Pictures Classic biopic I Saw The Light, which has a March 25 release date. She is repped by Gersh and Brillstein Entertainment.

Sicario, a Thunder Road production, picked up three Oscar noms Thursday: for Cinematography (Roger Deakins), Original Score (Jóhann Jóhannsson) and Sound Editing (Alan Robert Murray). The drug-war drama starring Emily Blunt and Benicio Del Toro and directed by Denis Villeneuve has made $80.6M worldwide since its September release via Lionsgate.

The Wind River deal was negotiated by Neil Meyer repping Sheridan, Elizabeth Bell for Acacia, Jonathan Fuhrman on behalf of Thunder Road and David Matlof for Film 44.
